Someone once asked me, is a half pail of water; half full or half empty?
I told this someone, if it was full and then the water poured out for whatever reason, then it is 'half emptied', but if it was empty earlier and water was poured in, then it is 'half full'.
So I reason that there is no half empty, rather only half emptied.
Still I can't figure it out fully, when I was just wondering what if the pail has 2 equally sized compartments and only one was filled, wouldn't that be half empty or is is half full?
